ROBERT STONESTREET II RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS AWARD FROM NASA

HOUSTON, TX -
Robert Stonestreet II recently received NASA’s Silver Snoopy. The Astronaut’s Personal Achievement Award is presented to one percent or less of the workforce each year. The sterling silver pin, flown aboard the shuttle, depicts the Snoopy character created by Charles Shultz wearing a space helmet and space suit. The character was chosen by the astronaut office in 1968 as their mascot and adopted as their personal symbol of safety.

Stonestreet is an International Space Station (ISS) Stowage Planning Engineer and is a key member of the ISS Mission Integration Contract (MIC) team at Barrios Technology. His responsibilities include the ISS increment-to-increment planning of on-orbit stowage capabilities and requirements. In this role, he has distinguished himself in assisting with ISS mission successes and has helped maintain safe conditions for the on-orbit crews and their habitat. His knowledge and experience resulted in early recognition of a hardware availability issue on the ISS increment 16 that could have affected the station assembly. His discovery allowed Mitigation steps to be implemented before any impact.

Stonestreet is a Texas A&M 1989 graduate with a BS degree in Biomedical Engineering. He began his NASA career as a summer hire with Lockheed in 1987 working in the Johnson Space Center (JSC) Manned Systems Telerobotic Laboratory. He has worked in the Health Maintenance Facility, JSC Telescience Center, with the design of the ISS waste and hygiene compartment, and most recently in ISS hardware transfer and stowage analysis.

Barrios Technology is an ISO 9001:2000 certified technology company with expertise in aerospace engineering, space operations, scientific research, and technology solutions. The company provides services to NASA, Department of Defense agencies, and the aerospace industry.
