BARRIOS TECHNOLOGY EMPLOYEE AWARDS BANQUET
HOUSTON, TX - At the Barrios Technology Annual Awards Banquet held on March 3, employees who were recipients of awards from the 2008 Barrios Employee Awards and Recognition (BEAR) program were recognized. The BEAR program provides an opportunity for employees and customers to recognize outstanding employees throughout the year. Quarterly, one percent of the employees are selected for the Silver BEAR Award, based on exceptional work performance.
Annually, a Gold BEAR Award winner is selected from among the Silver recipients. The winner is announced at the annual awards banquet. Vincent LaCourt, staff engineer for the Space Program Operations Contract, is this year’s 2008 Gold BEAR Award winner based on his outstanding support to ISS mission operations. Vincent was recognized for his outstanding support to: 1J/A as the lead Operations Support Officer, the P6 Solar Array Wing Repair Team, and the STS-120/10A Node 2 Internal Outfitting Team.
The other 2008 Silver Award winners were: Jason Campbell, Renee Clokey, Matt Demel, Shelly Fling, Christina Gosling, Yajun Guo, Paul Isleib, Anita Kaul, Nate Neal, Todd Quasny, Olga Randiouk, Tamla Ricks, Jorge Salazar, Connie Smart, Jim Stramler, Marcy Sweatman, Art Thomason, and Tom Walker.
Educational Achievement Recognition awards were presented to: Robin Holmes, Regents Bachelor of Art; Carrie Nabizadeh, B.S., Technical Management; Bryan Porcher, M.S., Management Information Systems; and Brian Ulczynski, M.S., Software Engineering.
Barrios also has a special annual award, the "Emy Award", named after the founder, Emrye Barrios Robinson, to recognize an employee who contributed beyond the workplace in service to the community. Kelly Hannagan-Valore was recognized for her support and participation in the Bay Area Turning Point, a non-profit, community based social service agency providing a variety of assistance services to families in need and other charitable organizations.
