DAVID SHANNON RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS DIRECTOR'S INNOVATION AWARD
HOUSTON, TX -
Johnson Space Center (JSC) Director, Mike Coats, recently awarded David Shannon the prestigious Director’s Innovation Award, for David’s outstanding contributions as the Inclusion and Innovation (I&I) Council’s Information Technology (IT) engagement team facilitator. David was nominated for this JSC Honor award by his I&I team members.
David works on the Mission Integration Contract (MIC) for Barrios Technology as a Mission Integration Database Application Systems (MIDAS) software developer, and Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Black Belt. His open demeanor and friendly approach to allowed him to successfully coordinate a collection of IT personnel from diverse contracts and backgrounds. He kept his team on track and on schedule, mitigated conflicts, and effectively communicated team progress to the NASA Executive Sponsors.
The I&I council is sponsored by the Joint Leadership Team and as referenced in a special message from Mr. Coats, was formed “…to develop recommendations to enhance the JSC work environment, making it more inclusive and an even better place to work. And second, we wanted to bring together groups -- with different perspectives, opinions, backgrounds and expertise -- to experience how diverse minds can work together to produce more creative, and in turn, innovative solutions to our challenges.”
