EMPLOYEES HONORED FOR MISSION SERVICES
HOUSTON, TX - Honors were recently presented to Barrios Technology employees representing their teams at Johnson Space Center.
Soyuz TMA-13 Ladder Holder: Christina Gosling/Attitude Determination and Control Officer
Christina Gosling (Barrios) accepted for the 31P Undock Team for outstanding support of the first vehicle undock from ISS while in Control Moment Gyroscope momentum management control. She led the effort for the first Progress vehicle undocking on CMG Momentum Management as well as ensuring her team was ready for any contingencies associated with a rare Soyuz docking to the FGB nadir (17S). Ms. Gosling worked to ensure issues with the GNC R7 uplink did not affect the ULF2 mission and she worked to prepare the community for the changes to operations due to the increased constraints once the S6 truss was installed. She was consistently prepared and worked hard to solve the many problems that arose through coordination of visiting vehicle traffic.

Soyuz TMA-13 Plaque Hanger: Marc Spicer/Ops Plan and Roiann Nimis/Lead Real Time Planning Engineer
Marc Spicer (USA) and Roiann Nimis (Barrios) accepted for the OPS Planning Team who provided exceptional support in a very dynamic planning environment. The urgency of getting the regenerative Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) equipment and six crew habitation equipment activated and the many anomalies that were encountered during activation resulted in replanning efforts beyond what is normal for stage operations and the planning team sustained this heavy workload for the entire increment. Their efficient planning efforts led to the successful activation of all of the 6-crew hardware, two Russian EVAs, and double the expected science operations.

Expedition 18 Ladder Holder: Meghan Erne/Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS)
Meghan Erne (Barrios) provided outstanding support of the Expedition 18 mission to prepare the ISS for 6 crew through successful activation of the water processing system and the extended checkout of the oxygen generation and carbon dioxide removal capabilities of the ECLSS. Ms. Erne was instrumental in the troubleshooting of the Urine Processing Assembly (UPA) and provided exceptional support in developing revised water sampling and water storage plans when the UPA became non-functional and the water sampling requirements changed real-time. Her leadership throughout the increment led to mature procedures and operational methodologies of the new regenerative ECLSS equipment in time to support sustained 6 crew operations.

Expedition 18 Plaque Hanger: Vincent LaCourt/Operations Support Officer (OSO)
Vincent LaCourt (Barrios) accepted for the E18 In-Flight Maintenance Team, for excellent work in the development of procedures that allowed for successful activation of the waste and hygiene compartment and crew quarters. The team supported numerous maintenance activities to ensure continued functionality of the International Space Station. Mr. LaCourt led the efforts to assemble and install the many systems required for six crew to reside on ISS including the Regenerative ECLSS racks, the Crew Quarters, the Waste and Hygiene Compartment (WHC) and the Kabin. He accepted the challenge of negotiating agreements for use of WHC consumables with the Moscow team and succeeded in defining the constraints in the process. Additionally, once the 6 crew work was complete, Mr. LaCourt led the OSO team in providing the many procedures required to complete a number of maintenance and test objectives that were left from previous expeditions. The OSO team shouldered an especially heavy workload throughout the increment, consistently providing well-prepared products for crew execution and maintaining the Expedition 18 ‘can do’ attitude throughout.
