BARRIOS EMPLOYEE RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS NASA FLIGHT SAFETY AWARD
HOUSTON, TX -
Barrios employee Hi Sam Jo recently received the Space Flight Awareness Flight Safety Team Award for his support of NASA’s Space Shuttle and International Space Station programs at Johnson Space Center (JSC).
Bill Gerstenmaier, NASA’s Associate Administrator for Space Operations; along with Bryan O’Conner, NASA's Chief of Safety and Mission Assurance; Michael Coats, JSC Center Director; and Ellen Ochoa, JSC Deputy Director; presented the award to Jo and two other team members Amy Efting and Jonathon Zahn, both of Jacobs Engineering.
The Space Flight Awareness Flight Safety Award recognizes significant, outstanding, individual or team contributions related to the prevention of anything that could lead to a catastrophic mishap to the vehicle, crew, or mission. Nominations for this award are reviewed at the highest NASA level and were selected by Gerstenmaier and O’Conner. This presentation notes the first time a team has been selected for this award and the first time in 10 years this award has been presented at JSC.
Jo, Efting, and Zahn were recognized for their outstanding support and above and beyond efforts to ensure the safety and security of the STS-117 astronaut crew during a critical failure with the Russian computers while the shuttle was docked with the International Space Station (ISS).
“We are proud of Sam and the other team members. This team has demonstrated a personal commitment to mission safety and success that sets an example for everyone in the aerospace industry,” said Barrios CEO and President Sandy Johnson.
