BARRIOS EMPLOYEE IVY APOSTOLAKOPOULOS HONORED WITH SILVER SNOOPY

Barrios employee Ivy Apostolakopoulos was honored with NASA’s prestigious Astronauts Personal Achievement Award, the Silver Snoopy, in recognition of her support of NASA’s International Space Station program at Johnson Space Center.
Astronauts Stan Love and Mike Barratt presented the award at a reception held at the Gilruth Center located at JSC. The Silver Snoopy Award is presented to NASA and contractor employees who are nominated by an astronaut or manager for their dedication and outstanding support that greatly enhances flight safety.
Apostolakopoulos serves as a Flight Controller supporting the ISS Mechanisms and Maintenance Systems and was recognized for her outstanding dedication in developing critical procedures that enabled the Oxygen Generator System on board the ISS to become operational again. Her groundbreaking research provided maintenance procedures to be successfully completed that were never envisioned to be performed in-orbit.
Apostolakopoulos received her Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Wyoming and her Master’s from the University of Oklahoma. She has been with Barrios for 7 years.
