Barrios Technology employees recently set a new United Way contribution record by pledging $135,166.00 during the 2009-2010 workplace campaign. One of NASA’s prime contractors, Barrios Technology had 51 percent of its employees participate in the charitable fundraising effort.

Barrios has participated in an annual United Way campaign for 22 years, increasing their contribution each year. The 2009-2010 donations represent a 46 percent increase from last year’s campaign and a 98 percent increase over the last 2 years.

"The remarkable generosity of Barrios employees in the midst of these difficult financial times and the uncertainly of the space program is an important part of Barrios’ culture," said Sandy Johnson, Barrios President and CEO. "These contributions make a difference in many lives, including enriching those who give.”

All contributions support the United Way of Greater Houston which touches one of every two lives in the Bay Area, Fort Bend, Harris, Montgomery and Waller counties. United Way focuses on strengthening our community by developing children and youth to their full potential, creating strong families and safe neighborhoods, sustaining senior independence and rebuilding people’s lives in times of crisis.
