BARRIOS EMPLOYEES RECOGNIZED AT ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET

Barrios Technology recently held its Annual Awards Banquet with a special luncheon at Bay Oaks Country Club. Each year this event recognizes employees who were recipients of awards from the 2009 Barrios Employee Awards and Recognition (BEAR) program as well as those receiving higher education degrees, company service awards and the corporate Emy Award.
Throughout the year, Barrios selects employees quarterly for their outstanding contributions to the company and their jobs. These employees are presented with the Silver BEAR award. At the end of the year, from those recipients a Gold BEAR award winner is selected.
The 2009 Gold BEAR award winner was Kevin Beaulieu, an imaging scientist for the ESCG. Beaulieu was selected from all of the 2009 Silver BEAR award recipients for his outstanding work planning and implementing the STS-125 on-orbit inspection of the Shuttle using the Orbiter Boom Sensor System. This inspection is normally done using imagery from handheld camera on the International Space Station but since the destination of this mission was the Hubble Telescope new procedures had to be implemented. Beaulieu took a leadership role in developing this strategy with Shuttle Program, JSC engineering and the Mission Operations Directorate. His efforts played a vital role in clearing the Orbiter during the STS-125 Hubble Servicing Mission. Kevin was an integral part of the damage assessment team, his inputs and expertise contributed to the success of the mission.
Barrios Technology presents a special annual award named after the founder, Emrye Barrios Robinson. The Emy Award recognizes an employee who contributed beyond the workplace in service to the community. The 2009 Emy Award recipient was Tom Hanson. Hanson was recognized for his support and participation promoting children’s fitness in our community and in other "at risk" communities, like the Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Education Achievement Awards as well as company service awards were also presented at the luncheon.
Educational Achievement Recognition awards were presented to Kenitra Anderson, Brenda Tracey and Michelle Pearson of the Mission Integration Contract; Harold White and Matthew Demel of the ESC contract; and Barbara Lewis Barrios Business Development.
Barrios also presented 5, 10, 15 and 20-year service awards to employees. A complete list can be found below.
