ALDEN MACKEY RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS NASA ENGINEERING AND SAFETY AWARD
Barrios employee Alden Mackey was recently awarded the NESC (NASA Engineering and Safety Center's) Leadership Award. This award, presented annually, recognizes NASA Center employees, industry representatives, and other key stakeholders for their outstanding contributions to NESC’s mission to perform independent assessments of NASA's high-risk projects to ensure safety and mission success. Mackey was recognized for his continued outstanding technical leadership in the Constellation Program loads and dynamics technical area, and multiple individual NESC assessments and consultations in support of the Loads and Dynamics TDT, and the NESC Academy.
Mr. Mackey has provided leadership to the NESC Loads and Dynamics Technical Discipline team through, day-to-day monitoring and expert consulting input to the Constellation Program Integrated Loads, Structures, Mechanisms and Materials System Integration Group (ILSM SIG).
His citation noted that “he has provided his knowledge and experience (from Apollo/Saturn, Space Shuttle, and Space Station) in loads and ascent flight integration to numerous CxP technical exchange meetings, loads panel meetings, and design reviews for the Orion and the Ares I Projects.”
The award recognized his high level and quality of NESC insight and input to this CxP technical area. “Mr. Mackey continues to be a resource of engineering judgment, knowledge and experience to the NESC and NASA as a whole, in the field of loads and dynamics and integrated ascent flight performance for launch vehicles and spacecraft that cannot be adequately appreciated,” the citation noted.
