HOUSTON, TEXAS:  Sandy Johnson, President and Chief Executive Officer, Barrios Technology, was honored with the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Houston Technology Center’s Celebration of Entrepreneurs Gala held on May 10. Johnson was recognized for her dedication and service in the area of Aerospace Entrepreneurship.  Mr. Steven Gonzalez, of NASA’s Johnson Space Center, introduced Ms. Johnson, noting her role in the start-up of Barrios Technology as well as the accomplishments of the company since her purchase of the business in 1993. He also recognized the company’s and Ms. Johnson’s contributions to the local community.

 

“Sandy’s success in building Barrios Technology is the best kind of entrepreneurial leadership applied to building our nation’s space program.  She and others like her are truly shooting for the stars,” said Walter Ulrich, President and CEO of the Houston Technology Center. 

 

The event honored local entrepreneurs that have made a significant impact on the region’s economy; and developed lifesaving and revolutionary technologies. Johnson was one of five individuals recognized with Lifetime Achievement awards during the evening’s activities. Awards were also given out in the areas of Energy, Information Technology, Life Sciences, and Nanotechnology.
