Robert M. (Robbie) McAfoos

President

Robbie has been with Barrios since 2001 and was named President in April 2016 after serving as a Program Manager for Barrios' largest contracts. Prior to assuming the role of President, he was Barrios' Mission and Program Integration (MAPI) Program Manager, supporting the International Space Station (ISS) Program office. MAPI is a 100% Completion Form contract delivering products and services in support of the ISS. Robbie had the challenge of implementing this major shift to completion form contracting while integrating multiple contracts into MAPI and managing large and small business subs. Under his leadership, Barrios received excellent award fee scores for performance and returned a substantial savings to the customer through exceptional cost and schedule management.

His role prior to MAPI was as the leader of a Barrios initiative which successfully established a business base in the Houston oil and gas market. He previously managed programs and contracts in the Mission Operations Directorate (Space Program Operations Contract), ISS Program Office (Mission Integration Contract), and the Crew Exploration Vehicle (Orion Project Integration Contract) with employees working in the technical disciplines of engineering, operations, flight control, training, configuration management, data management, and program planning and control.

Robbie began his career at Honeywell where he designed, developed, and tested algorithms for the Entry Flight Control System of the Space Shuttle.  While at Honeywell he led teams developing avionics systems at the Systems and Research Center, marketing and contracts in a motor factory, and establishing the Houston Engineering Center.

Robbie has a Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering, from University of Tennessee and a Master of Science, Electrical Engineering, from the University of Minnesota.  He holds Project Management Professional and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certifications.
