Robert M. (Robbie) McAfoos
President/Vice President, Operations
As President, Robbie provides Executive leadership across the Barrios business with a focus on implementing operational efficiencies. In his VP Operations role, Robbie manages and guides the team responsible for execution of Barrios subcontracts supporting a diverse customer base across multiple geographic locations.
Prior to his role as President, Robbie served as the Program Manager for each of Barrios’ prime contracts: Mission and Program Integration (MAPI) contract, the Orion Program Integration Contract (OPIC) and the Mission Integration Contract (MIC). Previous roles also included managing Barrios subcontracts to United Space Alliance and establishing a Systems Engineering presence in the Oil & Gas market.
Robbie began his career at Honeywell where he designed, developed, and tested algorithms for the Entry Flight Control System of the Space Shuttle. While at Honeywell he led teams developing avionics systems at the Systems and Research Center, marketing and contracts in a motor factory, and establishing the Houston Engineering Center.
Robbie holds a Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering, from University of Tennessee and a Master of Science, Electrical Engineering, from the University of Minnesota. He holds Project Management Professional and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certifications.
He serves as the current Chair for the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership (BAHEP), is a member of the Board of Directors for Community in Schools Bay Area, and is active in the Gulf Coast INCOSE chapter. Robbie is a proud father and grandfather. He enjoys time on the water, jogging and being active.
