Barrios Technology Receives Super NOVA Award
JOHNSON SPACE CENTER (Houston, TX): Barrios Technology’s Mission and Program Integration (MAPI) contract was recently presented the 2015 Super NOVA award at this year’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) Contractor Safety Forum (CSF). This is the third consecutive year that MAPI has been recognized by the forum for excellence in its safety and health program and its first year to achieve Super NOVA status.
MAPI’s safety mission is to provide an extraordinary safety awareness program with zero incidents and injuries through leadership and employee ownership of safety for themselves and for others. As part of this mission, the monthly Communiqué online newsletter provides safety news and topics to MAPI employees, volunteers are provided to support JSC Safety activity, and the MAPI Safety & Health Administrator consistently attends JSC Safety meetings. In 2015, the MAPI contract participated in the NASA Moves Step Challenge by forming teams within the contract and holding “Friday Walks” to enhance competition and promote overall wellness. The MAPI contract had a safe year and did not have any recordable injuries or incidents in 2015.
The JSC CSF Safety Excellence award was created to recognize contractor organizations that demonstrate excellence in safety and health and significant participation in JSC safety and health activities. The CSF scores each company’s application for the year and recognizes the top contractors
