Barrios Technology’s Annenkova Receives NASA’s Coveted Silver Snoopy
JOHNSON SPACE CENTER (Houston, TX): Barrios employee Vera Annenkova was recently honored with NASA’s prestigious Silver Snoopy, in recognition of her work on the Johnson Space Center (JSC) Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) Contract and support of NASA’s Orion program.
Annenkova has provided exemplary leadership and is considered a “requirements champion” for the Capsule Parachute Assembly System (CPAS). Her dedication and efforts to personally interface with all major stakeholders (including Safety, Lockheed Martin, Orion Program Office, parachute mortar provider GDOYS (General Dynamics Ordinance and Tactical Systems) and parachute reefing line cutter vender Robert Research), have proven vital to the program.
Annenkova was recognized for her efforts in pulling together a major revision to the CPAS Project Technical Requirements Specification (PTRS) even though requirements were still in an undefined state. Her robust requirements verification approach for CPAS resulted in a “CRADLE based” integrated requirements and verification approach which contributed strongly to a successful on and schedule CPAS Critical Design Review.
Astronaut Anne McClain presented the award, which is known by its identifying character from the Charles Schulz comic strip. The Silver Snoopy Award is the astronaut’s personal award for safety and is presented to less than one percent of NASA and contractor employees for their professionalism, dedication and outstanding support that greatly enhances flight safety and mission success during the Space Shuttle program.
