Barrios’ Zamaitis Recognized with JETS President's Award
JOHNSON SPACE CENTER (Houston, TX): Barrios’ Joe Zamaitis was presented the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) Contract President’s Award. Zamaitis exemplary support and long-term experience with the Advanced Exercise Device (ARED) was recognized as a significant achievement for both JETS and NASA in the long term benefits for the International Space Station (ISS) crew members.
Zamaitis’ commendation spoke to his contributions to the team and the project mission. His mentorship of new engineers and two new project managers over time have provided the team an invaluable service for technical knowledge retention and maintaining a strong team culture. Zamaitis’ extensive knowledge with ARED along with his manufacturing background have proven vital to the success of ARED and future projects. His nominations credited his continuous contributions to the ARED project by the customer as a significant impact “…that avoided replacement of a major hardware component. The on-orbit anomaly resolution greatly minimized downtime for crew members’ exercise time on ARED”.
The Barrios President's Award is specific to the JETS contract. Each year one employee on the contact is selected to receive the prestigious award based on their contributions and outstanding performance. Barrios is a teammate with Jacobs Engineering on the JETS contract.
