Barrios Technology’s Ed Alper Awarded NASA’s Esteemed Silver Snoopy
BARRIOS TECHNOLOGY (Houston, TX): Barrios employee Ed Alper has been honored with the renowned Silver Snoopy award, recognizing his diligent work on the Johnson Space Center (JSC) Mission and Program Integration (MAPI) contract in support of the International Space Station.
Alper, a senior Russian Visiting Vehicle Engineer (VVE), was recognized for his career-long dedication to improving NASA/Russian cargo integration processes, ensuring reliable and efficient manifesting of United States On-orbit Segment (USOS) cargo on Russian vehicles. His recommendations and professional Russian relationships, often provided the successful delivering of time-critical hardware and valuable on-orbit science.
Ed played a large role in making process modifications that significantly improved manifesting data quality and reliability, seen in the development of the return packing data report, leading to increase on-orbit return vehicle packing efficiencies. His expertise in Russian vehicle cargo integration have guaranteed quality, reliable, and efficient processing leading to mission success.
Astronaut Stephanie Wilson presented the award, which is known by its identifying character from the Charles Schulz comic strip. The Silver Snoopy Award is the astronaut’s personal award for safety and is presented to less than one percent of NASA and contractor employees for their professionalism, dedication and outstanding support that greatly enhances flight safety and mission success regarding the International Space Station.
