Barrios Technology has awarded Jayne Medellin with the coveted 2019 Gold BEAR Award. Each year Barrios selects one employee from the quarterly Silver BEAR Award winners as their employee of the year. Medellin, who joined Barrios in March of 2005, was recognized for her outstanding work ethic and dedication to the administrative support she provides to the Mission and Program Integration (MAPI) contract.
MAPI is Barrios prime Space Station contract. Throughout 2019, the primary facility MAPI employees reside in onsite at Johnson Space Center went through a major renovation. Medellin was the primary point of contact for all logistics involving the relocation of over 400 employees. Medellin’s diligence and strategic organizational skills kept all employees aware of each step of the renovation and moves which brought many challenges. Employees were moved to different floors and at time different buildings across the JSC campus during the multiple phases of the renovation. Upon moving back in to the new areas, Medellin worked to address concerns, and make sure that the entire team was able to adjust to a new work environment and acclimated to their new desks.
During 2019, Medellin’s efforts were just focused on the renovation of workspace. While working her normal executive administrative duties to the MAPI Program Management Office, Medellin also assumed the responsibilities of another administrative position vacated and subsequently trained the new hire for that position.
Barrios Employee Awards and Recognition (BEAR) is a peer award program to recognize outstanding achievement above and beyond the normal work expectations. The BEAR Award consists of quarterly Silver Awards and an annual Gold Award chosen from the Silver Award recipients.
