Barrios Announces Retirement of CEO Sandy Johnson; Kelly Page to Assume President & CEO Role
Barrios Technology has announced that long-time Chief Executive Officer, Sandy Johnson, retired on October 31, 2025, bringing to a close a distinguished leadership tenure and ushering in a new era as Kelly Page, her daughter, assumes the combined role of President & CEO.
Johnson began her aerospace career as an engineer with McDonnell Douglas Corporation, supporting major programs including Skylab and the Space Shuttle. In 1980, she joined Emyré Barrios Robinson in founding Barrios Technology – a bold move that would shape her life and the lives of many others. Over the years, she evolved from technical leadership into business management and, ultimately, purchased the company in 1993, becoming President & CEO.
Under Johnson’s leadership, Barrios has achieved sustained success as a federal-government prime contractor, maintaining prime contracts since the company’s inception and delivering more than 45 years of continuous service, primarily to NASA. She guided the company’s growth into a large small business, establishing Barrios as a leader in Human Spaceflight Integration while cultivating a culture widely recognized and respected.
Her tenure includes numerous significant achievements, such as receiving the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal – NASA’s highest honor for a non-government individual – along with two NASA George M. Low Awards for Quality & Excellence, multiple NASA Johnson Space Center Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year awards, and a Boeing Supplier of the Year award for Barrios.
Beyond her business leadership, Johnson has remained deeply committed to serving her community. Her long-standing involvement with United Way of Greater Houston has been especially impactful. Named the Robert W. Kneebone Volunteer of the Year in 2015, she continues to devote her time, energy, and leadership to advancing the organization’s mission of helping families thrive.
Her volunteerism extends across a broad spectrum of educational and civic causes, including the Challenger Center, Clear Creek Education Foundation, Communities in Schools – Bay Area, Bay Area Turning Point, Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, where she served as Chairman twice, and Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Clear Lake program. She also lent her expertise to the Engineering and Science Foundation Board at Louisiana Tech University and the President’s Council at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL).
“I have grown up in awe of what Sandy has accomplished and working with her over the past decades has shaped me as a leader,” says Kelly Page. “Her technical expertise, commitment to mission success and unwavering focus on people and community have built the foundation upon which Barrios stands today. I am honored to continue the legacy of excellence she established.”
Johnson added, “I am proud of what we have built together at Barrios – the people, the performance and the partnerships. I look forward to following Barrios’ continued growth and success as I hand the reins to Kelly, whose leadership I trust implicitly.”
With effect from October 31, 2025, Kelly Page will serve as President & Chief Executive Officer. Kelly brings over 20 years of experience with Barrios and will continue guiding Barrios as it embarks on its next chapter in government and commercial space services, leveraging its reputation for culture, innovation and mission-critical performance.
